Love Magazine Does Downton Abbey

I only share magazine covers when they are truly remarkable, and I nearly squealed when I saw this triad from Love's preview of Issue 8. Would you even recognize the stars of Downton Abbey if you hadn't seen the covers side by side?

In case you're missing out on what is quite possibly the best television show ever (it's in a dead heat with Mad Men), the cover models above are Lady Mary (otherwise known as Michelle Dockery), Lady Ethel (Laura Carmichael) and Lady Sybil (Jessica Brown Findlay). And Racked is reporting, and showing off, quite a tasty fourth cover featuring Thomas the evil footman (aka Rob James-Collier). (Apologies for all the parentheticals. Wink, wink.)

Styled by Love magazine editor Katie Grand and shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, the covers channel the Edwardian era of Downton but with a starkly eerie twist. In fact, I'm pretty sure this is what the ladies of the house would look like had Tim Burton been in charge. Or maybe if they had lived in The Capitol... because Lady Edith is looking a little Effie Trinket with that pink shock of hair, no? I mean that in the best possible way.

The issue hits stands on July 30, but how to choose?

  4. Hey Marissa! It was so great meeting you last night! I love making new Brookline friends. Here's my little baby blog. These covers are amazing, btw. I love Downton and I'm not opposed to organizing watch parties for me, you, and Kristen once it starts again!

  8. It was so great to meet you, too! I'm going over to check out your blog right now. :) Oh, and I'd totally be down for Downton viewing parties. Let's talk soon. We should all go to Hops & Scotch when it opens.

I can't believe I'm not watching this show.  I recorded it when it first came out but didn't have time to watch it and finally deleted the shows because I needed room on my DVR.  If it's in the same category as mad Men then I AM missing out.  Maybe I can eventually watch it on Netflix (when I get Netflix, ha ha).
I love this photo shoot, the make-up is so fabulous!
