Designing My Myswear for Farfetch Sneakers

Customizable footwear abounds online these days, but the choices are usually pretty straightforward—a wedge here, a platform there, maybe a ballet flat thrown in for good measure. Farfetch and London brand Swear are finally changing things up with MySwear, an ultra-luxe line of bespoke sneakers that includes 10 styles for men and 10 for women.

Farfetch reached out to me as one of a handful of bloggers to participate in a design competition, and who am I to turn down a chance at winning shoes? The rules: Design my own pair of MySwears. But it's easier said than done! The choices are nearly endless, and the 3D modeling technology makes it all too easy to view the infinite possibilities. Nappa, hair calf or ostrich? White laces, black or navy? Ooh, a silver sole could work! Nope, scratch that. How about metallic side panels?

After settling on my style (the classic Vyner), I finally decided on natural snakeskin with a metal copper toe cap, matching copper eyelets a simple white sole and laces. The finishing touch? My initials, oh-so-subtly embossed in copper, on the tongue of the sneakers.

Nothing too flashy, but just enough detail to draw the eye when worn with a pair of jeans or tights and a shirt dress. I kept the colors neutral to pair with anything since these will, no doubt, become my go-to pair for traipsing around Tel Aviv. I mean, there's nothing more perfect for city living than a dressed-up sneaker, is there?

View the styles for yourself and get customizing over at Farfetch. You'll have everything from a simple slip-on to a pointed-toe brogue to choose from, and I'd love to see what you dream up!
