Even if motherhood's a little ways off, it doesn't mean I can't appreciate some great kiddie design when it comes along. Brand new line Stokke Home just launched at Stokke.com and in the Boston area at Magic Beans. Featuring modular Scandinavian-style pieces that transform as your child grows, the line fits right in with my clean, modern, aesthetic. Because you know I'm not compromising on style once this hypothetical little one comes a long.

With four main elements comprising Stokke's newest line, each piece is compact enough for city living.

The crib ($699) has an adjustable mattress platform and removable side panels for the baby to toddler transition, and the oh-so-cute canopy makes it a perfect playhouse or couch in the later years. The cradle ($359) fits within the crib or leaves a tiny footprint on its own, while the dresser ($529) is made of durable European beech wood to last throughout childhood. The changer ($249) offers the most flexibility of all, attaching to the dresser, crib or cradle stand, and facing forward or sideways. Brilliantly, you can then turn the changer upside down and place it in the cradle stand to transform the pieces into a play table for an older child.

I realize Stokke isn't the first brand to dream up furniture that grows with your child, but it may just be the best looking one!

  2. Isn't it cute? I was a little scared to write about it in case everyone assumed I was pregnant, but what the hell? Totally worth it.
