STARPATH Illuminating Pavement by Pro-Teq

[all photos via My Modern Met]

Well, I'll be! A UK company called Pro-Teq Surfacing has come out with an incredible spray-on product that covers pathways in a luminescent trail of stars. Developed as an energy-free alternative to streetlights, STARPATH is an anti-slip and water-resistant surface that absorbs and stores energy from UV rays to light the way at night. The surface adjusts to the natural light, remaining invisible during the day and glowing brighter as the sun sets.

STARPATH is currently being used at Christ’s Pieces Park in Cambridge, UK, covering 140 meters of walkways. Installed in less than four hours, Pro-Teq is hailing its product as more cost-effective and less labor-intensive than the use of street lights... not to mention that the result is absolutely enchanting.

  5. Wow, I've never heard about this before and it looks amazing. Definitely could make nice parks even nicer and walkable at night. I still wouldn't fancy walking through a dodgy park at night with this or any other lighting though lol.
