Boston Fashion Week: GALVIN-ized Headwear

Boston Fashion Week has come to an end, but I'd be remiss not to share some photos from the GALVIN-ized Headwear show that I attended last Monday. Designer Marie Galvin is a favorite of mine for her creativity, kindness and spunk, and her show did not disappoint.

The fascinators were the highlight of the evening for their glamor and dramatic flair, if not for their ultimate wearability. As they came down the runway, I yearned for the '40s - or at least a royal wedding to attend. More practical were the chunky knits with oversize pompoms (which have gone straight to the top of my winter wish list) and '70s-inspired floppy hats in shades of bordeaux.

Joseph Gordon Cleveland of Contra was spot on with the styling with clothing borrowed from Neiman Marcus. The pieces were rich-looking in their own right but were streamlined enough to play off the hats rather than detract attention from them.

Congrats to Marie on a beautiful show!
