Bright Ideas

After seeing these half chrome bulbs hanging bare in a house I visited this weekend, I decided to buy one for myself to use in the bathroom. You see, my indecisiveness on light fixtures has left me with a gaping hole in the bathroom wall for the past year. It's about time I made up my mind.

When I bought the bulb Saturday, my plan was to find a simple chrome plate to cover the hole in the wall and hold a socket so that the bare bulb extends from the wall, like in the photo above. Well, it turns out no such chrome plate exists, so I turned to Pinterest for inspiration.

I still don't have a solution for the bathroom, but if worse comes to worse, I now have plenty of other uses for my fancy new bulb...

If I really do decide to hollow out this bulb, I'll definitely be turning it into a fishbowl! I found a good tutorial for doing it here. Have any of you tried this before?
