Camel Coats & Groupons

Capella Coat [image via J. Crew]

I know that the camel coat trend has been blogged to death this season, but I couldn't resist when I saw this beauty in the December J. Crew catalog. And with its '50s ladylike silhouette, it's a trend twofer. Too bad I have absolutely no need for a new coat.

Something else I have no need for? The camel jacket that was tempting me from the racks of American Apparel yesterday. Even with my Groupon ($25 for $50 worth of merchandise), there's no justification in a Boston girl buying a light-weight jacket in November.

I surely would have left with the jacket if it had been a bit earlier in the season, but instead I got the Chiffon Oversized Button-Up in tan and a bottle of nail polish in Pinto (both below). My nails are already painted in this spicy pumpkin color, and the blouse will make its debut tomorrow over some black leggings.

Did anyone else get in on the American Apparel deal?  Make any purchases yet? I'm kicking myself for not buying a second Groupon as a "gift."

  1. That looks so good, so neutral and so stylish at the same time! It would look good almost with everything!

  2. I think you made a wise choice. I know what it feels like to have no need for a lightweight coat in November and the button-up is such a classic. You'll get so much wear out of that baby! xx

  7. Even though it was tempting, you got the right thing. That top is gorgeous and you'll need a heavier coat to wear over it, right? hehe

I didn't get in on the groupon action, and am now shaking my head wondering what I was thinking. Argh

  14. I LOVE the camel coat trend! I would love to have one.. but truth of the matter is that here in LA it's not cole enough to justify the purchase of a camel coat. (well at least for me). I saw a great deal on a beautiful camel coat at H&M the other day.. but could not bring myself to buy it... especially becuase I still have not even had a chance to wear my trench! Regardless they are beautiful to look at... and I love this one, the shape is lovely!

  17. Ooh I love the button up you bought! And I agree, it's such a pain to love lightweight coats in November, when they're just so impractical. But they're so cute!!
