Weekend Happenings

Another last minute event alert from The Well-Appointed Catwalk. Yes, I am impulsive when it comes to making plans. Why do you ask? In any case, Madewell puts out some great fitting jeans, which are 20% off tonight.

Madewell Denim After Dark
Thursday, 7-9 PM
329 Newbury Street, Back Bay
20% off denim, free hemming and embroidery, DG Reggie Beas, sweets and treats, plus a secret sale

Beantown vs. The Big Apple Pop-Up Store
Friday, 5-9 PM
15 Channel Center Street, South Boston
Boldfacers hosts this showdown between Boston and New York designers at a sample sale featuring clothing, accessories and cosmetics. Looks like the rivalry has moved beyond Yankees vs. Red Sox.

Uncommon Kitchens Self-Guided Tour
Saturday, 10 AM - 4 PM
Poggenpohl, 135 Newbury Street, Back Bay
This walking tour sponsored by the Junior League of Boston gives you access to eight high-end kitchens in Beacon Hill, Back Bay and the South End. I think the tour is meant to provide inspiration for kitchen remodels, but it's also a sure way to satisfy any snooping tendencies. Tickets are normally $25, but you can buy them at GetSugar for $17.50.

Friends of Modern Architecture/Lincoln Open House
Sunday, 2:30-5:30 PM
Lincoln (exact location TBA)
This tiny town outside of Boston is an unlikely hot spot for mid-century modern architecture, but the 20th century homes in Lincoln are to die for. (I got to babysit in one when I was in high school.) Join FoMA Lincoln on a tour of two of these homes by emailing fomalincoln@gmail.com. Be sure to leave your email address and phone number so that FoMA can let you know where the tour begins. The cost is $20 to non-members, free to FoMA members.
