Guys, I'm confused: For the first New York Fashion Week in memory, I wasn't blown away by Rodarte. The Spring 2016 collection that took to the runway yesterday was feminine and airy, yes, but it was also just so... much. Victorian-influenced, it could almost be mistaken for fussy.

But, then, I took a closer look. It was there in the details all alongthat gorgeous handiwork that Rodarte is known for, the impeccable styling and stunning craftsmanship. The collection takes on a whole new aura when viewed through a macro lens.

Viktor & Rolf Fall 2015 Couture

If there still remains any question as to whether fashion qualifies as art, just look to Viktor & Rolf's Fall 2015 Couture presentation. which unfolded at Paris' Palais de Tokyo last Wednesday. After ending production of their ready-to-wear line to focus on haute couture, designers Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren quite literally framed their textile masterpieces last week as one would frame a painting.

Beginning with relatively subtle white canvases ("relatively" being the operative word), the trajectory of the show moved toward the ultra-literal, through paint-spattered fabrics to portraits in gilded frames.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week has taken over New York (as if you didn't already know!), and I'm streaming the Fall/Winter 2015 shows right here on The Well-Appointed Catwalk for fashion fans near and far. So, grab some popcorn and a comfy seat, and watch it all go down live at Lincoln Center.

I won't lie: I know nothing about the label Honor. Not one. Single. Thing. But I'll be damned if they haven't put out the most interesting collection I've seen from New York Fashion Week thus far. These aren't the cool-girl basics I normally go for, but the ultra-girly, ultra-mod collectionsprinkled throughout with candy-like embellishmentsis something fresh. Among a spate of NYFW shows that have shown off plenty of perfectly cool, perfectly wearable designs, Honor's Spring 2015 collection is the first to stop me in my tracks and make me contemplate what I'm seeing. It's not safe, and that's a very good thing indeed.
