What to (Possibly) Expect from Altuzarra for Target

Altuzarra for Target

Since word of these high-low designer collabs tends to spread like wildfire, you may have already heard that Target is partnering with Altuzarra come fall. Target released a single sketch yesterday to whet our appetites, but what else can we expect from the womenswear, shoe and accessory collaboration? Let's see if Altuzzara's Fall 2014 collection can provide a few hints...

If the Altuzarra for Target collection plays off the designer's runway looks for fall, I'm predicting at least one evening getup featuring slits and exposed shoulders, with a pair of cutout booties thrown into the mix. Swap out silk for polyester, leather for faux, and it's an easy look to translate from high to low.

COLORFUL LININGS

Expanding on the color blocking trend that just won't die (nor should it!), Joseph Altuzzara's Fall 2014 collection featured bold pops of colors from within his garments. This look is a total people pleaser and, again, shouldn't be too difficult to replicate at a lower price point.

FAUX SHEARLINGS

Recreated in polyester fleece (à la Patagonia) and edged up with some faux leather details, nubby shearlings like these will likely be some of the most expensive and most coveted items in the Altuzarra for Target capsule collection.

WHAT NOT TO EXPECT: WOVEN TEXTILES

Nope. Sadly, not gonna happen. These chunky, hand-loomed textiles were a highlight of Altuzarra's Fall 2014 collection when they appeared at New York Fashion Week, but there's no feasible way to recreate the handicraft look for cheap without verging on granny.

Well, I'll feel pretty darn foolish if none of my predictions come true, but there you have it. Altuzzara for Target lands at Target.com and at most Target stores in the U.S. and Canada on September 14, with a limited selection available globally at NET-A-PORTER.COM.

  1. I adore everything from this collection. What is your take on a cheaper version of designer clothes? I have missed that whole H&M Isabel Marant craziness.

  2. I haven't been fond of the last few Target designer collabs but I think this might be a good one. I love the silhouettes and the overall elegance. Here's hoping!
