Bubble Rooms by Pierre-Stéphane Dumas

[via Fubiz]

When I first saw these photos, it was hard for me to believe that these bubbles are oversized tents and not, in fact, whimsical miniatures or unusual dollhouses. It turns out that these igloo-shaped, transparent shelters were designed by Pierre-Stéphane Dumas as magical escapes from city living.

Two French hotels, Attrap’Rêves and Sky River, are both using Dumas' bubbles as luxury camping accommodations for those who wish to gaze at the stars from bed. Each is outfitted with modern furnishings, but I can't speak for indoor plumbing. I imagine the lack of running water is something even the camping averse might suffer through for a night to experience life in a bubble.

  1. This is so cool! If camping were like this, then I'd have no problems "roughing it".

  3. How cool? I'd love to see the stars twinkle at night in one of these. Definitely not conventional for camping in populated areas though - no privacy! ;)
    Love the igloo form.

  4. I'd imagine that these are lot more comfortable than a tent, and trendy too. I like how they're clear, though it would be a bit weird if you just put one out in the middle of no where, everything can see in.
