Chocolate Hearts

I just bought some goodies at Hotel Chocolat on Newbury Street for my secret Valentine as part of the Memory Bean Designs Valentine's Swap! If only picking out a gift for my boyfriend were so easy.

I have to say, I'm getting pretty excited for February 14th. I have no plans yet, but exchanging flowers and candy always makes for a good day in my mind. Maybe my view is skewed because it's been years since I was single on Valentine's Day, but if I remember correctly, I never minded the holiday. Probably because I have wonderful parents who bought me chocolate and roses each year I was without a boyfriend.

So, what are your plans? And if you're single, do you treat Valentine's Day as an overblown Hallmark holiday or as a chance to celebrate your platonic loved ones?

  1. I love your parents!! They sound awesome. We have no particular plans, but I wouldn't mind receiving a little of that swag you're displaying up there.

    Have a great weekend!

  2. It makes me nuts that people fixate on being single or not on V-day. I enjoy it for all of the crafts, sweets, and telling all of the special people in your life that you care about them. Who says its only about romantic love?
I've been working on some gaudy, cheesy valentines for my nieces haha!

  5. Husband and I always cook up some lobster (pot pie, mac and cheese, surf and turf) and drink some good champagne to celebrate. We adopted the annual tradition after too many rushed dinners out. It's also close to my bday so my gifts tend to get combined (like having a birthday close to Christmas), but that is the only child in me complaining:)

  6. I've already started celebrating Valentine's Day ha ha I just love everything about it. However, I openly professed my disdain for the holiday until about three years ago when I started dating my boyfriend. Now I'm a big sappy, goopy romantic. And my Mom still sends me a care package in the mail. I think she likes Valentine's Day even more than I do ha! My boyfriend and I have reservations at our favorite restaurant and I'm sure some chocolate, flowers and bubbly will be involved. x

  7. Ohmygaw. YUMMY! Now I'm craving chocolate really badly. Lol. If my boyfriend gives me chocolates this year for Valentine's Day, I'm going to be torn between love and hate. (I will eat them all and they will go STRAIGHT to my hips!!). Sigh.

  11. I love Hotel Chocolat's chocolate. It's so yummy. We don't have any plans for V-day. We may just stay at home, cook dinner and play Scrabble. We're not very big on the whole v-day festivities, though I love to make v-day cards :-)
