Hellish Handbags by James Piatt

 PeaceKeeper 4000 by James Piatt

Another find from StumbleUpon: James Piatt is a controversial American designer who has become known for his unique collection of handbags that are 100% California badass.

The PeaceKeeper, with its brass-knuckle handle, is Piatt's signature design, but he has also introduced such appalling/fantastic bags as Tinkerbell (remember Paris Hilton's dog?), which resembles a dead chihuahua on a spit. Yeah, it's a little disturbing.

Even more disturbing is the Foundling, which is "designed to symbolize an infant that has been deserted," according to Piatt's website. The bag comes with four accessory charms - an airplane, a pack of cigarettes, a well and an open window representing Charles Lindberg Jr., Britney's baby, Baby Jessica and MJ's son, Prince.

Piatt says his goal is to create "extreme classics," but what do you think?

  2. Very unique indeed. I could definitely sport the first one, the others, not so much. I'm not sure if these would be considered classics, but they're definitely unique and would probably appeal to a certain subculture of nonconformists:-)

  6. Disturbing to say the least! But then most art is there to make us think ...unless you have to carry around a dog-on-a-spit shaped bag!

  8. I kind of love the gun bag. And either though I'm not about to carry any of them, I can totally appreciate the irony and their general badass-ness. Also, this reminded me that I need a multi-finger ring pronto.
