Weekend Happenings

The old space (above) was charming, but the new shop looks so much better [image via The Velvet Fly]

I stopped by The Velvet Fly's new North End location last Sunday, and the store looked fantastic. With patterned couches in the dressing rooms and curtains hung from Anthropologie, it all looked complete to me. But, no, the shop keep said, there was still more to be done. Go check out the final product tonight at the boutique's grand opening party, and enjoy 10% off.

More happenings after the jump...

The Velvet Fly Grand Opening Celebration
Friday, 5-9 PM
28 Parmenter Street, North End

Urban Sailor at the Barbershop Lounge
Through May 25
245 Newbury Street, Back Bay
Jean Paul Gaultier drops anchor in Boston with his popular fragrance, Le Male. To celebrate, the Barbershop lounge is offering free men's grooming services (shaves, haicuts, shoe shines) and gifts from JPG. So send your scruffy boyfriends.

SoWa Open & Vintage Markets
460 Harrison Avenue, South End
Every weekend through October 31, 10 AM - 4 PM
I wrote about the markets last week, but I missed opening weekend for Brimfield (totally worth it). Now that we have some nice weather, I'm expecting this to become at least a monthly activity for me.
