How to Keep an Off-the-Shoulder Top in Place

We all know off-the-shoulder tops are bigger this year than ever before, but this video came out last summer, and it's a total GAME CHANGER! For lack of a less cliche phrase, the struggle is real: Off-the-shoulder tops just don't stay off the shoulder. Either glue your arms to your side for the night, or engage in a delicate dance of tugging and shrugging. Enter this amazing tutorial by Refinery29 that I found out of pure desperation...

So, now that you know how to wear 'em, I've rounded up the best of the trend below. Happy Memorial Day weekend, you cold-shouldered goddess, you!

Modern, Minimalist New York Apartment by Decor Aid

Having launched in Boston (and several other cities) earlier this year, interior design firm Decor Aid is spreading like wildfire by passing trade-only discounts on to clients, and I'm liking what I see! This family apartment on Manhattan's Upper East Side combines easy mid-century style with just a touch of glam, plus a cool, neutral palette that lets the view take center stage.

The original interior featured outdated, mismatched furnishings and an overall gloomy aesthetic that didn't take advantage of the apartment's abundant natural light. Like many mothers, the client wanted a kid-friendly, yet sophisticated, family home that would be uncluttered and serene. She asked Decor Aid to create distinct spaces that would coexist, allowing her to relax or work while keeping an eye on the kids.

Cooler in Culottes

culottes street style

I'm finally back from Italy, and I'm feeling inspired. Not by Italian fashion, mind you, but by the style of so many Asian tourists. It's true: from Venice to Florence to Rome, the Asian girls were killing it, and they were all wearing culottes. Seriously... all of them.

Call them what you will—culottes, gauchos, palazzo pants—but it took dozens of stylish Asian tourists to prove to me that wide, cropped pants can look as awesome on petite girls like me as they do on model types. I snagged a pair for myself on my last day in Rome, and I've rounded up a bunch more for you below. Just click to shop!

Guess what? I'm in Italy! You may not be hearing from me much in the next couple of weeks as I eat my way through Venice, Florence, Tuscany and Rome, but take a look at this to-die-for Roman apartment in the meantime. Renovated and decorated by architect Achille Salvagni for his most exacting clienthimself—the apartment combines modern art and furnishings with antique family heirlooms.
